The Arno Profile System (APS) is a powerful tool used in conjunction with Christian counseling. It measures and identifies a client’s temperament in three areas: Inclusion, Control, and Affection.
- Inclusion: Social orientation and intellectual energies.
- Control: Willingness or unwillingness to make decisions for oneself and others.
- Affection: Interaction in deep relationships.
Developed by Drs. Richard and Phyllis Arno over a seven-year study through systematic research with over 5000 individuals. This method is an integral part of Highlands Christian Counseling, based on Scripture and aims to save time while helping to produce effective results.

Highlands Christian Counseling primarily offers telehealth counseling services through Zoom video conferencing. Some of the benefits compared to "in office" appointments are:
Accessibility: Counseling services can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.
Convenience: No need to commute to sessions.
Comfort: Participate from home, or another familiar, safe environment.
Privacy: Video sessions can offer a higher level of privacy, as clients do not have to visit a physical location.
Flexibility: Easier scheduling, including outside traditional hours.
Continuity: Maintain regular sessions even while traveling or during disruptions.
Increased Engagement: Families or couples, can participate in the same session from multiple locations.
About Me
About Me
Hello, my name is Paul LaGod & I am a Licensed Pastoral Counselor. I hold an MA in Clinical Christian Counseling and a BA in Christian Education as well as being an ordained minister, but above all, I am a devoted Christian. At the age of 20, I experienced a profound encounter with Jesus that transformed my life from darkness to a passionate pursuit of God's Kingdom and His righteousness. I am a father to two wonderful children and the widowed husband of my beautiful wife, Misty. Despite enduring various illnesses throughout most of our marriage, Misty held on to hope, loved our friends and family deeply, inspired many, and completed her degree alongside me. Together, we dreamed of starting a counseling ministry, a vision that continues to drive me forward.
During our time together, I learned invaluable lessons about serving well, caring for others, being patient, leading with integrity, displaying true love, and staying faithful in all circumstances. While earning a counseling degree provided me with essential knowledge, the life experience of living with and caring for a disabled spouse taught me even more. It deepened my understanding of what it means to have a successful relationship, to be a man, a father, and a husband, and to approach difficult topics with love and effectiveness. My time with Misty helped to form a greater empathy and understanding for others and shape the vision of my practice.
My deepest desire is to see others thrive, achieving success and wholeness while loving well, caring for others, and wholeheartedly following Christ to reflect His love to the world.
